Under the support of CCFS, the micro renewal for the Sung's Patio in Kuk Po, conducted by the HKU Faculty of Architecture's Center for Chinese Architecture and Urbanism, led by Weijen Wang's design research team, preserves traces of century-old spatial transformations of four-bay row houses. The design engages in a dialogue between the material textures of the walls, tree roots, and the forces of nature.Amidst the interplay of stone-wall shadows and the rolling hills, the design capitalizes on the courtyard's spatial characteristics while ensuring structural stability. It incorporates a garden route that winds through pavilions and corridors, reconstructs essential living spaces, conserves the textural details of the building, and explores innovative approaches to the coexistence of architecture and trees—merging cultural heritage preservation with natural conservation
