在展場的安排與主題上,藉著中區警署前後兩個合院廣場,以及其間連接的巷弄空間,強調 主題所闡示的,一種建築與城市空間的再織關 系。利用建築工地常用的竹棚與織網作為建築 空間的連系,我們由探討香港城市織理的“織理 城市”,與展示建築作品的“建築織理”兩棟展館 圍成的大廣場開始,接著經過“連系城市”的長形窄巷空間與“模型香港”的天橋平臺,到後面 由“轉化織理”與“未來織理”兩棟展館圍成的第二個廣場。利用這棟建築群豐富的空間經驗,同時透過這些建築之間廊道等裝置連接空間,我 們希望進一步彰顯我們的主題“再織城市”。
我們充分理解到,在香港這樣高密度的城市中心,舊中區警署這個特殊的地點作為城市公共 空間的巨大潛力。我們也充分理解這個建築群的歷史意義,和其每一個不同的空間在形態上的獨特性,以及它們組構成的整體空間經驗。 透過對古跡保存議題的溝通與協調,我們相信 這個雙年展證明了,文化與展覽活動城市空間 的觸媒,不僅能給古跡建築帶來新的生命與城 市活力,雙年展本身更成為了一個價值協商的 平臺與建立市民共識的都市過程。

We are fully aware of the potential of the site as
the most extraordinary public spaces in the centre
of our high density city. We are also fully aware of
the historical significance and typological unique-
ness of each space in the compound, as well as of
the way they were put together to form a complex
of amazing spatial experience. By overcoming the
challenge from urban conservationist, we intend
to demonstrate that the biennale can not only
function as a catalyst for injecting urban life into
heritage building, itself is also an urban process
for bridging differences and consolidating urban
visions.
Fabrication indicates a situation in which parts and fragments are unfolded into an open whole. It suggests an incessant process and a capacity for transformation wherein new parts are generat- ed into multiple assemblages from within, allowing itself to be Refabricated into multiple-layers of per- meable and heterogeneous spaces of urbanity.
